The biggest shopping day of the year isn't the one you named your whole plan after. That should change how you run November.
Quick question.
What's the biggest online shopping day of the year?
Most owners say Black Friday.
It's right there in the name. It's the day we all plan around, discount for, and lose sleep over.
It's not the biggest day.
In the 2025 holiday season, Cyber Monday generated $14.25 billion in U.S. online sales, compared with $11.8 billion on Black Friday — a $2.45 billion difference.
So here's the thing worth sitting with.
We named the whole month after one day.
And it isn't even the day that sells the most.
Let that land for a second.
You pick your discount for Friday. You aim your ads at Friday. You brace for Friday.
And then a bigger day shows up three days later, and most owners have already spent everything getting through the weekend.
This is what I mean when I say the problem is almost never where you're looking.
You've been digging on Friday because it has the famous name.
But the gold is spread out.
Some of it is Friday.
More of it is Monday.
And a lot of it is nowhere near the weekend at all.
Here are the numbers, because they matter.
In the 2025 holiday season, shoppers spent $257.8 billion online from November 1 through December 31, according to Adobe Analytics. Cyber Week — Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday — generated $44.2 billion. That's about 17% of the full holiday season.
So the "big weekend" everyone builds their plan around is roughly one-sixth of the season.
And inside that one-sixth, the biggest single day isn't even the one you named your sale after.
Cyber Monday generated $14.25 billion in online spending, compared with $11.8 billion on Black Friday.
At the end of the day, that tells you something simple.
Your customers are not all showing up on Friday.
They're showing up across the whole season, on their own schedule.
It means you stop building your November around a single day.
If the peak isn't Friday, then a plan that's all Friday is aiming at the wrong spot.
You want a plan that catches the early buyers, the Friday buyers, the Monday buyers, and the ones who are still deciding after all of it.
That's not more work.
It's the same month, mapped better.
And here's the trap to watch for.
When November feels slow, the instinct is to go harder on Friday.
Bigger discount.
More ads on the one day.
But you can't fix this by working the smallest slice harder.
More Friday is just more of the 17%.
Think of November as a few closes, not one sale.
Some customers are ready early, before the crowd.
Some want the weekend.
Some come on Monday.
And some quietly buy in the days after, once the noise dies down and they've made up their mind.
When you plan for all of them instead of just Friday, the month stops living or dying on 48 hours.
I built the whole thing into one simple builder.
It walks you through the early window, the weekend, and the days after, for your own store, so you're not guessing where the sales actually are.

Because you don't have a Black Friday problem.
You have a November problem.
And once you can see the whole month, the gold was there the whole time.
You've got this.
